Lanzarote – Sustainable production
The Island is approximately 70 km long from Northeast to Southwest and only 20 km wide from east to west with very contrasting landscapes:
Endless volcanic ash fields cover the western parts. The south is dry and boasts beautiful golden beaches around the southern tip. The centre of the island is famous for its vine cultivation. The north is unexpectedly green in the winter months and forms the agricultural part of the island. The northwest offers dramatic coastline and beaches. Lanzarote and many natural open areas of the Canaries are considered a natural biosphere reservation and there are important environmental concerns.
TO PUT THESE GUIDING PRINCIPLES INTO PRACTICE, WE COMMINT TO:
Minimize and responsibly manage waste by reducing and recycling waste, including paper, plastics, glass, and organic waste, generated on set and in the office, such as:
Encouraging use of water coolers & reusable water bottles.
Providing, maintaining, and encouraging use of recycling bins.
Reusing paper waste from printer for notetaking on the blank side.
Limiting all printing and minimizing use of printed signage, etc.
Electronic communication when permitted, such as sending and receiving documents as PDF files via email.
Avoid and/or minimize unnecessary travelling to meetings, sets, etc. where alternatives are available and practical, such as using teleconferencing, instant messaging, email, carpooling, and efficient timing of meetings to avoid multiple trips.
We hire local staff, use local catering services that offer locally/organically produced food, and rent local equipment from local businesses whenever possible.
Encourage the responsible use of energy via efficiency measures and responsible behaviour.
Adhere to or exceed applicable recycling guidelines.
Ensure that our employees and crew members are aware and adhere to this policy
